Who we are?

Our Daily Bread Ministries (formerly Madison County Stewpot) has been serving the Canton/Madison County area by providing free meals since February 2002 as a subunit of Stewpot Community Services of Jackson, MS, who was our sponsoring agency. We are now separated from Stewpot and are a standalone nonprofit corporation and ministry with our own 501C3 determination letter from the Internal Revenue Service. Our primary ministry at this time is a feeding program. We provide a noon meal to low-income families, senior citizens, disabled, and homeless individuals in Madison County, MS, most of whom are in the Canton, MS area.  We also deliver 109 meals a day to homebound residents who are elderly and/or disabled with the “Delivered Meals Program”. We average about 60-80 people who attend our daily meal service at noon inside the facility. However, during the summer months, May-August and holidays, due to school being out, and  90% of kids are on the free lunch program, those same children come to our facility to receive a hot nutritious meal, which makes our client count go up to about 100-150 people during this time. If a person comes into the facility to eat a hot meal at  noon, there are no requirements; however if a client would like to be served through our Delivered Meals Program, a client would have to be a senior citizen at the age of 60 and over or disabled. (Client would have to show proof before receiving food via state issued driver license with proof of current residency or if disabled, a state issued letter from the state and information along with proof of current residency would have to be verified to receive a home delivered meal.)We are not federally funded so we depend on the kindness and generosity of local businesses, civic groups, religious organizations, and individuals.
